Is there an alert guide to explain tymoraPRO's various alerts and modifiers?

Solution

Click here for the complete list of possible alerts and their modifiers, complete with index.  Here is an explanation of many of the main alert types and modifiers you may see in tymoraPRO tradeSCAN or on the tymoraPRO twitter feed, as excerpted from the tymoraPRO tradeSCAN User's Manual. You can also click on the stock symbol of our website's Twitter alert feed to see a highly descriptive alert breakdown. tymoraPRO tradeSCAN users can also access the alert breakdown (with definitions by tag) of each alert by double-clicking on the alert in the tymoraPRO platform in a WatchVU window (click here for an example). If you see something like "[8]" at the beginning of the alert, that indicates the asset has just triggered 8 alert messages within the past minute.

Powerful, yet easy-to-use, WatchVU Alert Filter Window in tymoraPRO.

&okaySTK Include all stocks in the alert filter (or negate by preceding with "~", ie. ~&okaySTK)
&okayNYS Include NYSE/Listed stocks in the alert filter (or negate by preceding with "~", ie. ~&okayNYS)
&okayNAS Include NASDAQ stocks in the alert filter (or negate by preceding with "~", ie. ~&okayNAS)
&okayETF Include ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) in the alert filter (or negate to disallow ETF-based alerts by preceding with "~", ie. ~&okayETF)
&okayFX Include forex symbols in the alert filter (or negate by preceding with "~", ie. ~&okayFX)
&okayFUT Include futures symbols in the alert filter (or negate by preceding with "~", ie. ~&okayFUT)
&okay If "&okay=$INDU", the filter will include any asset in the DJIA. $INDU can be replaced with any other index or part of the sector name your are trying to match (ie. "&okay=health" to include all healthcare related-stocks). Can also be negated by preceding with "~".
&okayRS If "&okayRS>80", the filter will include any asset with a SectorRS (Sector Relative Strength) greater than 80. If "&okayRS<20", the filter will include any asset with a SectorRS less than 20. For more information on SectorRS, scan the alert guide for LSect and SSect. Can also be negated by preceding with "~".
150DaySMA Trading "At/Above" or "At/Below" the 150DaySMA. For example, "At/Below 150DaySMA[+11.50]:2M" means stock is trading at or below the "+" rising 150DaySMA at 11.50, which was last touched 2 months ago (":2M").
1DayHi50% 50% retracement extend from the Current Day's High and Low. However, they also indicate smaller 50% retracements of the retracement OFF a Daily HIGH (ie. 1DayHi50%). For example, if the DayHigh is 10 and the DayLow is 9, and the stock now moves to 9.75 and retraces back to 9.87 a 1DayHi50% Alert would be triggered. This type of filter can be very useful for identifying excellent entries near the beginning of potential TOPs. NOTE: These Alerts show not only the PRICE of the 50% point in brackets (between the []), but ALSO the TIME it took for the retracement to occur from the peak. ie. [25.50,2m] would mean that the midpoint price is 25.50 and it took 2 minutes to get to that point from the high or low of the move (whichever was most recent). Time is an important factor because faster moves into these areas can indicate that a panic/capitulation/exhaustion spike has just occurred. You are also shown the range of the move (ie. r:0.25 indicates that the total size of the retracement is 50 cents from high to low).
1DayLo50% 50% retracement extend from the Current Day's High and Low. However, they also indicate smaller 50% retracements of the retracement OFF a Daily LOW (ie. 1DayLo50%). For example, if the DayHigh is 10 and the DayLow is 9, and the stock now moves to 9.25 and retraces back to 9.12 a 1DayLo50% Alert would be triggered. This type of filter can be very useful for identifying excellent entries near the beginning of potential BOTTOMs.

Gap- Alert modifier indicates asset had a downward gap that day – it also shows you how much higher or lower the asset’s currently trading versus where it opened, as a % of the gap move. So if you see "Gap+:+10%chg", and the asset gapped up 1 point, we are currently trading at 0.10 above the gap. This makes it easy to screen for certain gap scenarios and to see how the gaps are holding. "PrvCGap+/-" is the same, except the gap is being measured from the Previous Day’s Close instead of the Previous Day’s High or Low. "fill" indicates the percentage of the time gaps in this stock tend to fill or close the next trading day. Be aware, of course, that the wider the gap, the less likely the asset may be to "close the gap" (ie. watch out for runaway gaps, especially in stocks with potentially "game-changing" news).

If "Strong" is indicated, there has so far been little or no retracement since the Gap opening.

"fill" indicates the percentage of the time gaps in this stock tend to fill or close the next trading day. Be aware, of course, that the wider the gap, the less likely the asset may be to "close the gap" (ie. watch out for runaway gaps, especially in stocks with potentially "game-changing" news).

For example, if the DayHigh is 10 and the DayLow is 9, and the stock now moves to 9.75 and retraces back to 9.87 a 1DayHi50% Alert would be triggered. This type of filter can be very useful for identifying excellent entries near the beginning of potential TOPs. NOTE: These Alerts show not only the PRICE of the 50% point in brackets (between the []), but ALSO the TIME it took for the retracement to occur from the peak. ie. "[25.50,2m]" would mean that the midpoint price is 25.50 and it took 2 minutes to get to that point from the high or low of the move (whichever was most recent). Time is an important factor because faster moves into these areas can indicate that a panic/capitulation/exhaustion spike has just occurred. You are also shown the range of the move (ie. r:0.25 indicates that the total size of the retracement is 50 cents from high to low).

Upgrd Upgrade issued today, generally appears as a news modifier (ie. "News[Upgrd]").
vl: "Volume Level" modifier, which adds a "tier" to stock alerts for the advantage of easy advanced screening of stocks by minimum average daily levels of trading volume.

"vl:9" = 10M+ average volume/day
"vl:8" = 5M+ average volume/day
"vl:7" = 2M+ average volume/day
"vl:6" = 1M+ average volume/day
"vl:5" = 750K+ average volume/day
"vl:4" = 500K+ average volume/day
"vl:3" = 250K+ average volume/day
"vl:2" = 100K+ average volume/day
"vl:1" = 50K+ average volume/day
"vl:0" = under 50K average volume/day

So, if you add "15-50 VL:6-9 HUGE +TRDV" to your MainFilter, you’ll get stocks priced from 15 to 50, with average volume from 1M+ average shares traded per day ("VL:6-9" = vl:6 vl:7 vl:8 vl:9), for alerts containing the term "HUGE" (ie. "HugeRngBar", "Huge%Move"). The last modifier "+TRDV" requires that all stocks shown are trading on heavier than average volume for that time of day (ie. "3x:2xTrdVol"). Remember that the primary search filter for a group of alerts is NOT case sensitive.
VWAP Volume Weighted Average Price -- a (minus) before the value indicates downtrend, and a (plus) indicates uptrend
